This is the story of Jessica, whose steps have been ordered by her father, even down to who she will marry. She is being groomed for an executive position in her father's company and has been sent to look for a company that her father can purchase and she can run. I loved this underlying concept and I applaud Author Brynette L. Turner for coming up with such an innovative idea. She was detailed in her explanation of how Jessica did what she did, but not to the point of boredom. So to keep things interesting, Jessica decides to take back roads and visit sleepy little towns on her journey and she meets up with a well-run diner, and Jake, a man who is as delicious as the French toast he serves. Her business mind and her heart want to stick around and explore the man behind the diner, but if she does, she will be messing with Daddy's agenda for her life. Will she decide to take the safe and secure road laid out for her by her father, or the road less traveled that could satisfy her heart?

This was one of the most beautifully written stories I've read in a long time. She showed a true sensitivity of soul so needed by an author. The author slowly drew me in and made me fall for the characters, the small town with its homey feel and even helped me understand why Jess's family did what they did. If you love a well-written story full of emotion that leaves you with a smile and a satisfied sigh, this one's for you.

I was pleasantly surprised when I read Detour. It is well-written and kept me guessing as to how it would end. As I read Detour, I kept trying to figure out what Jessica would do next and whether she would follow her head or her heart. The author expertly draws you into the story and makes you identify with the main character's strengths and weaknesses. Once you pick it up, you'll have a hard time putting it down.

This was the first romance novel that I've read and I must say that this was enjoyable. The emotions and troubles experienced by the characters felt genuine. They too were enjoyable. I highly recommend this book.

This was well written. Held its on for a first time publication. I couldn't put the book down. It held my interest; I forgot that I had to eat dinner. This is how into the book I was. Looking forward to more stories from this author. The characters were well thought out.
