SNEAK PEEK at Kendra's Conflict

Somehow, the idea of a three-way relationship stuck in my head and bounced around for several months. I'm not just talking about wanting to write a menage scene, I'm talking about wanting to write a full-blown love story where three people are equally committed to preserving the relationship. This has nothing to do with fidelity versus loyalty, although those topics are discussed. This isn't an open relationship and there isn't any cheating in the traditional understanding of those terms. This story line deals with the many ways that people are connected and how we handle the fact that some connections may not follow conventional definitions.

Follow along as Alonzo, Kendra, and Carlos explore their emotions and reasons for the choices they make and the paths they ultimately take. Will they try the unconventional? How will their family and friends respond? What will their journey look like, and what will it uncover about each of them?

Kendra's Conflict is developing into a duet, with the first book scheduled for publication in late spring 2019. Here is an unedited snippet from the portion written during NaNoWriMo. Stay tuned for more excerpts in the coming months!

SNEAK PEEK

She rested her lips against his throat. Her breasts pressed into his hard chest. “Do you remember the conversation we had about me sending the wrong signals?”

“Yes.” His hands moved lower, off the top of her hips and clearly onto the curve of her ass. He pulled her against what she could tell was a growing erection. “I remember saying that you aren’t responsible for my feelings. However, you might be responsible for this boner.”

They both laughed. But Carlos didn’t miss a step as he wickedly rolled his hips against hers while appearing to others to just be dancing. It caused Kendra to nearly falter before she recovered her rhythm.

“As I was saying,” Kendra continued, “I think it’s the wrong signal for me to let you see how you affect me when there’s no way to do anything about it.”

“Because it would betray Alonzo?”

“Yes.”

“There’s a lot that wouldn’t betray him, that would actually fall within what he wants for you.” Carlos leaned back slightly. “For example, he doesn’t mind if I kiss you.”

Kendra thought about that for a moment.

“No, I guess he doesn’t.”

“He doesn’t mind if I hug you or put my hands all over you—like I’m doing right now. If he did, he’d be out of that booth in a heartbeat.”

Again, Kendra was silent.

“If we can behave like this in front of him, are we betraying him if we behave this way when he’s out of town?”

“I suppose not,” she said and was surprised at how relieved she felt.

“So, you see, there are no wrong signals. We just have to know how far is too far.” He kissed the side of her face.” The song ended, and he took her hand to lead her back to the booth.

I Won NaNoWriMo!

For those of you who don't know, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. The month of November is set aside for a 30-day challenge to write a 50,000-word novel.

#NaNoWriMo2018 is officially over. This was my first year participating and I exceeded my personal expectations in addition to exceeding the contest goals. However, the book is nowhere close to being finished! Kendra's Conflict will be a duet at the very least. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that because a book has never flowed quite like this one. I optimistically anticipate being able to release both books within the first half of 2019. While this is very much a love story, it's also quite erotic, so will it be released under my name or my pen name? We'll have to wait and see. Stay tuned ...
