Valerie: grew up in a struggling family, worked her way through college with a job and scholarships, had a baby right after graduation but initially refused to marry the father, is employed as a financial analyst and currently living the middle class dream.
Tony: grew up in middle-class comfort, works as an engineer, has loved Val from the moment he saw her, and nothing is more important to him than his family.
Monica: Valerie's younger sister, has spent her whole life staying focused and ambitious, has no time for nonsense, and is finally happy pursuing her educational dream and life with Patrick.
Patrick: moved from the roughness of the urban jungle to accomplishing his goal of working in healthcare, is artistically talented, is unquestionably devoted, and values nothing and no one more than he does Monica.
